The world has slowly begun to wake up from the Apple party with a severe case of iPhone hangover. People are realising that the device fails to do many of the things they would expect a smart phone to do (or even some things a basic mobile could do). Many are starting to wonder why they bought a device that simply doesn’t deliver to do what the flashy marketroid ads said it could do.

Article at Apple Insider: Apple argues only a fool would believe its iPhone 3G ads

Simple answer: they were lied to.

In recent news, a twenty year old woman from Wisconsin was arrested for not returning two overdue library books to her library. The books were White Oleander by Janet Fitch and Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Read the original article here.

Heidi Dalibor of Grafton, Wisconsin had unfortunately ignored all correspondence and court requests directing her to return the books and the issue escalated until she was arrested after a visit from the police to her family home. She was handcuffed and escorted to the station in a police cruiser for her mugshot pictured right. Now normally arrests involving books center around either heists or powerful institutions, organisations and governments trying to suppress what they see as dangerous ideas expressed in or represented by the books.

Some examples of book related arrests are:

the Australian euthanasia campaigner Philip Nitschke arrested in January of this year for bringing his euthanasia handbook into New Zealand

the UK book seller arrested in connection with the theft of a £15million Shakespeare manuscript dating back to 1623

the two Alabama sixth-graders arrested after writing names of school staff in a notebook supposedly copying the Death Note anime series where a person’s death can be brought about by writing their name in the death book.

and the UK man arrested for selling a 300 year old ledger bound in human skin.

Many books in history have been banned by various cultures for various reasons, check out this wikipedia article for a list of them.

In this case of our twenty year old library rebel, the arrest was due to laziness but my question to all the readers, writers and bloggers out there is; which book would you be arrested for if you could choose and what crime would you most probably be accused of for possessing that book?

Let me know with a comment.
