The internet should be in the hands of the people and citizens, not governments or corporations. To do this, we'll need a solid mesh networking technology to connect people in a redundant and highly fault resistant network using simple devices like home wireless routers that can bridge to each other. Imagine being able to call someone on the other side of a city without having to give Telstra a cent, using voip and meshed wireless routers! Add to this, imagine doing all that easily and for free using free and opensource software. Stop dreaming, start building.
